My name is Alexander. I was born in Lancaster, PA on June 16, 1987. I started school around 1993, the year my sister was born. By then, we had moved to Reading so that my dad could be closer to work. Over first three years of school I figured out that my sister's age reflected the grade I was in. Strange, but pretty neat.
In 1997 we moved to Tampa, Florida. That was the first time I had seen anything outside of Orlando, which was basically Disney World and retirement homes. We lived in Tampa for six years, visiting places like Key West, Daytona, Venice. We even went on a Caribbean Cruise. By 2004 I had started the Eleventh grade. I completed the first quarter of the year, however, I would not be able to complete the semester in Florida as planned. My dad got a darn good job in the city of Las Vegas.
We moved in on October 31, 2004. I registered at Mojave High School. I was pretty excited, at first. Trying to adjust to the learning speed of the school was alot harder than making friends there. Still, it was a fun year. So was my Senior year. I graduated in June, Class of 2006 with an advanced diploma. I then registered at CSN (College of Southern Nevada) formerly known as Community College of Southern Nevada.
It's now 2009. I've been attending CSN for 3 years. I've officially delared Graphic Design: Web Design Emphasis, as a second major. It is my intention to have Associate of Applied Science degrees in both 3D Animation and in Web Design by May of 2010.
I began playing around Photoshop when it was Version 7. I was in the tenth grade at the time. Within weeks I was clearing up "Red Eye" from pictures taken by my mother. I kept playing around with it until I had reached CS2 (Creative Suite 2.) By then I was very close of graduating High School.
I migrated to CS3 at the start of my third semester of college. I also began taking classes related to photo manipulation, composition, restoration etc, as part of my Graphic Design: Animation Degree. I learned so much within the semester. I wanted more. I persued other classes. Computer Illustration being one of them. I also began making backgrounds for Zune in the process. I don't think I'm done yet however.
With the release of CS4 I've discovered new tools and methods in which to create my backgrounds and other creations, ranging from simple touchups to creating something from scratch. I've recieved some good comments on my most recent works in photoshop. Though I've been working on Zune backgrounds, I've been trying to make much higher quality images. Some at 300 DPI. Some have gone to say they're "HD". But you don't have to take their words, nor mine for it.
So far, I have made 23 backgrounds for Zune Portable Media Players. But the backgrounds aren't limited to just Zunes. If you know how to resize the image, etc. it may be used for other devices.
The site was made in March 2008 as a simple final project for my Web Design I class. I had intended on making an online portfolio in which I could display my work. When the first version launched in May, it was a 5 nav button site with basic rollover buttons and some "exact position divs", along with some rollover images. I wanted to put more on the site...but it would have been disasterious, with my knowledge of coding at the time.
As the fall rolled around, I started thinking about putting more "Advanced" technology into the site. Such as the "Spry" technology which was pretty new to Adobe CS3. However, I had to change the "poor" look of the site first. Within two weeks I came up with a more sophisticated navigation bar, which sported some advanced photoshop effects. It kept me happy. But I discovered it wouldn't be enough.
I began integrating spry into the site, specifically for the galleries. With the addition of the spry tabs, the galleries were able to be sorted and displayed properly. If I had attempted to make something like that with out any classes, the results would have been disasterous. Within weeks I had also discovered how to alter the colors of the spry objects to make them match the site theme better. Several days later, I finally set up a theme and look that I had wanted to achieve since day one.
I still have a feeling that this site is nowhere near completion. I always come up with new ideas to put into it. Such as the new section that displays some of my fictional writings. The site isn't that much of a gallery to me anymore. I view it as a place to display and share my work with the world.
